Hand of the Maker: A Horizontal Tasting of Agave Spirits w/ Lou Bank

SOLD OUT

The world is attracted to Mezcal because so much of it is made by hand using pre-industrial methods. And the flavors and aromas tend to reflect the biodiversity of the communities where the spirits are made. And … so many more things. One of those things, though, is the source material used to make the spirits: the agave. There are more than 158 recognized species of agave in Mexico. And that’s just species — each of those species has numerous varietals. And each of those varieties creates different flavors. Join SACRED founder Lou Bank for a tasting of five agave spirits made by the same mezcalero, using the same methods and the same tools, to better understand what different agaves bring to different bottles.

Can’t wait to see you for another Mezcal Class!

New Spanish Wines Tasting

This week we take a close look at some absolutely fantastic wineries making dynamic and superbly drinkable wines from Rioja and beyond. Spain has long held to traditional, yet rustic winemaking styles; regions and varietals help shape the way wines are made and how they translate to us in the glass. With new fervour for organic and minimal intervention approaches gaining favour among emerging winemakers, new life is being breathed into the profile of classic regions.

Come sip with us and discover new Spain in a bottle…

SOLD OUT New Year's Eve / Hogmanay Celebration with Professor Pinkerton's Irrelevant Orchestra

Thelma Carol invites you to a New Year's Eve / Hogmanay Celebration featuring Professor Pinkerton's Irrelevant Orchestra! Join us for a decadent NYE soiree shop-side with Milwaukee-based, traditional jazz performers, Professor Pinkerton's Irrelevant Orchestra.

EDIT: Event is SOLD OUT.

Formal or Traditional Scottish attire strongly encouraged! Let's start the New Year in style.

Uh, what is Hogmanay…?

Hogmanay is the Scottish name for new year celebrations. It is believed to come from the French word 'hoginane' meaning 'gala day'. It is thought to have first been used widely following Mary, Queen of Scots' return to Scotland from France in 1561. One of the most important traditions is the “First-Footing” where the first person to enter your house offers a gift to auspiciously begin the new year. In return, and very much in TC fashion, food and drink are returned to the guests. Join us for a very Scottish New Year’s Eve!

Introducing Cage Imports with
Garth Hodgdon - Owner of Cage Imports

After more than a decade long sommelier career that included stops as Head Sommelier at Bouchon Bistro, three and a half years as a sommelier at The French Laundry and a year at Per Se in New York, Garth Hodgdon was hired by Champagne Krug as their National Ambassador. For the next five years he traveled the country hosting tastings, dinners and educating the next generation of Champagne lovers. He has spread the word across all 50 states and has been a featured panelist at food and wine festivals across the country including Aspen, Pebble Beach, Hawaii, Los Angeles, TexSom, SommCon and Charleston. Garth has been named "Best New Sommelier" by Wine & Spirits, placed second in the Chaîne de Rotisseurs Young Sommelier Competition, passed the Advanced Exam with the Court of Master Sommeliers, been featured in many national and international publications and spent about 45 seconds onscreen in the documentary "SOMM."

Irish Coffee Fest

Irish Coffee Fest

Kick off your Yuletide season with our inaugural Irish Coffee Festival! We’re opening an hour early to host cookies and a you-call-it Irish Coffee Bar.

The first Irish Coffees were made by Chef Joe Sheridan at the restaurant of Foyne’s airport in Limerick, Ireland, when a flight was forced to return due to poor weather. The passengers were made comfortable by Joe’s piping hot coffee spiked with Irish whiskey; the drink was further developed at the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco, where it donned its signature dollop of whipped cream.

Menu (subject to change):

The Sheridan - Fresh coffee, Writer’s Tears, freshly whipped cream, Demerara sugar

The Nutty Professor - Fresh coffee, Writer’s Tears, Amaretto/Frangelico/black walnut blend, freshly whipped cream

The Baja - Fresh coffee, anejo tequila, Mexican hot-chocolate syrup, inferno bitters, whipped cream, orange tequila mist

The Peppermint Paddy - Iced coffee, peppermint-stick infused Writer’s Tears, whipped cream, frozen Rumple Minz shooter

No charge for entry, drink prices range from $12-16.
